June 25 - 26, FIELD DAY at ENSOR

A phone call from Dan Reed, NØZIZ gave me a heads up on plans to use stakes driven into the ground for support lines for the large portable tower that would be loaned to the Santa Fe Trails Amateur Radio Club. This baby is extendable to around 80+ feet and is mounted on a tandem wheel large heavy trailer. The whole system is owned and configured by the Johnson County Sheriff group for emergency uses around the county. For this event, the club using Ensor's spacious grounds got the use of it. Dan’s suggestion was that I have the property marked for under ground utilities ahead of time so safety would prevail. We did that and as you can see in the below photos, it is a very awesome tower on wheels.

The photos will tell the rest of the story because I did not get the names of all who are in photos. I will only say that the set up of several operating positions and their antenna systems was a well done and smooth operation and that alone is a major part of a successful Field Emergency operation. Several volunteer helpers were available to help erect, operate, and disassemble the next day.

There were 2 HF, a GOTA, a Digital, and Satellite stations.
