Military Service

As a member of the Naval Reserve Marshall was 41 years old when the U.S. entered the Second World War. He was not a prime candidate for being called to service because of his age. This seemed to perplex Marshall. He is reported to have written letters to several officials asking for assistance in being allowed to serve in the Navy.

In this information section there is what seems to be a list of achievements and abilities more than fundamental for being useful to Navy Communications. It seems to have worked for Marshall Ensor. He was called to serve in the Navy for the duration of the war where he conducted training of radio operators, service and control of the elaborate communications equipment and research in radio direction finding as used aboard military aircraft and ships at sea. This service was mostly at the Seattle Washington Naval base. He and his wife, Ina, lived in BOQ 105 as listed on the return address of his mail. A number of pieces of military radio equipment are in storage at the museum.
